Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using the Chessmate mobile application operated by us.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Chessmate, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the terms, you may not access the service.
2. Fair Play and Conduct
Chessmate is committed to a fair and enjoyable experience for all players. By using the Service, you agree NOT to:
- Cheat: Use chess engines (e.g., Stockfish), software assistance, or advice from other players during ranked games.
- Sandbag: Intentionally lose games to lower your rating.
- Stall: Intentionally let your clock run down when in a lost position.
- Harass: Engage in abusive, threatening, or offensive behavior in game chats or user communications.
Violation of these rules may result in rating adjustments, temporary suspension, or permanent account bans.
3. User Accounts
- You are responsible for safeguarding the password and credentials used to access Chessmate.
- You agree to provide accurate and complete information during registration.
- We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, if you breach these Terms.
4. Intellectual Property
The Service and its original content (excluding user-generated content), features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of Chessmate and its licensors.
5. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall Chessmate, nor its directors, employees, partners, agents, suppliers, or affiliates, be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your access to or use of the Service.
6. Disclaimer
Your use of the Service is at your sole risk. The Service is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis.
7. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of Kenya, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
8. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. By continuing to access or use our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
